Malaki for Malonga was held at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California on August 13, 2005   Malaki is a celebration for some one’s life. In this case we celebrated Malonga’s life. This ritual is an essential dimension of the indigenous Congolese culture. Among many things, it provides a communal support for the bereaved family to officially end mourning and focus on living.
