Honoring
MALONGA CASQUELOURD
This event is OUR Weeds-Off ritual in the Congolese
tradition for MALONGA, which is an essential dimension of the indigenous
Congolese culture. Among many
things, it provides a communal support for the bereaved family to officially
end mourning and focus on living.
Volunteer recruiting committee
- In
charge of recruiting volunteers
- Communicates
with the other committees to see how many volunteers they are in need of
- Develops
a volunteer schedule up to and during the weekend of events
- Finding
a host/MC
Publicity Committee
- Oversees
the publicity of the event, which includes putting together a press kit
- Arranging
interviews with major newspapers, TV and radio
- Create
flyers, banners, phone tree
- And
any other fun creative way to get the word out
Program Committee
- Find
out who will perform (what groups)
- What
dances will be done
- Organizes
the program of the event
- Manages
the stage by helping the acts to follow the program layout
- Communicates
with the technical committee regarding the needs of each group in terms of
the sound, lighting and background set up
- Attends
rehearsal in order to establish an entertaining program layout
